Welcome to the new #BeverageLife. We share our drink experiences, and you get to know us a little better. Thoughts? Chime in! Jason: Caffeine Crawl OKC Prep TripIt will always be tough to narrow down the best beverage experiences when we travel. I went to 10+ places in a day and a half, driving to Oklahoma City and back to KC. Coffee Slingers handed over a nice shot of their Huckleberry Espresso, and a Ritual blend as a double shot at Cafe Evoke was also on point for pleasing the demitasse orders. Had single-origin brews worth bragging about at Elemental Coffee, Syrup and Reverie Coffee (Wichita), and Topeca Coffee brews at both Cuppies and Joe and Gray Owl. The latte with Mariposa Coffee and a Bloody Mary using Oklahoma distilled Prairie Wolf vodka at Kitchen 324 could not have paired better with the biscuits and gravy plate I had - fuel for the drive back to KC on Sunday. The frosting on top was getting to catch up with Brad and Chris from Black Mesa Brewing Co. over beers and comfort food at the new Pump Bar. Exciting beverage things continue to happen in Oklahoma. Sadie - Pourovers & new beginnings in FoCoWhile settling in to the snowy nuances of my new city, this week held a temporary farewell to one of my favorite FoCo refuel spots - Harbinger Coffee. Moving from the fabled coffee cart in an unlikely setting after 3 years of community caffeination, Jonathan and team will be reopening Harbinger Coffee in a brand new, permanent location later this month, and I can hardly wait to walk through the doors. Until then, I strolled past the new space and savored every last drop of my Allegro Java pourover. Emily - Pizza & cocktailsA long work week usually ends in pizza for the McIntyres, which this week gave me the chance to check out East Glisan Pizza's winter drinks menu. Outside of the awesome pizza, fun atmosphere (including Pink Panther re-runs), and incredible service, one thing I love is that the cocktails here are creative, balanced, and inexpensive, plus a great mix of classic riffs and original drinks. I had the "Granny Maria", which incorporated apple-infused Monpolowa, Applejack, cinnamon, and walnut & cranberry bitters. Michael - New Year's Eve at Westport Cafe & BarThe Whiskey Smash A well-integrated blend of Four Roses Bourbon, lemon, honey, peach and mint! A perfect way to kick off New Year's Eve with friends! This concoction was extremely well-balanced: the smokey spice and heat from the caramel-laced bourbon was equally matched by the sweetness of the peach and honey with a mint bow on top! The Suffering Bastard Drink #2 continued the beverage adventure during our New Year's Eve meal! More Four Roses Bourbon blended with Boodles Gin, lime, ginger and bitters. This drink was a bit more tangy and citrusy but still very smooth for the level of alcohol with nice vanilla notes in the middle! Well done! ~ Join the conversation ~
