~ Caffeine Crawl Sacramento year 2 was a drizzly, caffeinated success ~ A drizzly forecast didn't slow the caffeine-conscious of Sacramento for a second - we had full biking and walking routes geared up and ready to brave the rain bright and early! Several of us began the day admiring the penny floors during a sneak peek at the new, soon-to-open K street location of Temple Coffee (photo above) while sipping Kenya drip brew and Colombia kyoto. Several routes kicked off at Insight coffee Roasters - we sipped over-extracted, under-extracted, and right on target brews of their Guatemala San Antonio Chaguite. Chocolate Fish Coffee hosted bike routes at their roastery with samples of coffee from the same farm - Costa Rica Cerro San Luis - processed three ways - honey, washed, and natural. Vaneli's Handcrafted Coffee served up a single-origin-to-blend tasting at RailBridge Cellars & Company - individual tastings of the Brazil, Guatemala, and Ethiopia used in their unique Caffeine Crawl blend, and then a taste of the blend itself! Nick and Allison brewed up Naked Coffee's newest single origin, Guatemala Laurel, at the roastery and the downtown lounge, respectively. A french press, v60 and a cold brew plus introductions and group discussion of favorite brew methods rounded out our stops. Shine welcomed Crawlers with custom door signs and samples of the 'Namaste' matcha latte, plus an iced 'Nirvana' - Temple Kenya + vanilla + cream. We learned how to make our own New Orleans style cold brew at home with the help of Amanda at The Trade Coffee & Coworking - coffee from Counter Culture, chicory, sugar and milk = NOLA-inspired magic! We had a caffeinated history lesson at Old Soul Co - farmer history spanning Nicaragua to Honduras, varietal history, and cafe history accompanied washed and natural processed samples of Nicaraguan coffee and delectable housemade chai scones. A origin blend nitro cold brew and a pourover were served alongside smiles from young coffee professionals at coffee farmer owned Pachamama Coffee Cooperative. 'Affogato' was taken up a notch at The Mill - specialty cookie ice cream and a cold brew reduction syrup took it to a whole new level! Vaneli's Handcrafted Coffee hosted the afterparty and a Coffee Mocktail Barista Competition after the Crawl at RailBridge Cellars & Company - competitors from The Mill, Old Soul Co. and Temple Coffee threw down their best mixology-meets-cold-brew skills for prizes from Prana Chai, Baratza, Espresso Parts, The LAB, Railbridge Cellars and more! Rain and all, it was a great weekend, and we're thrilled to watch the Sacramento specialty beverage scene continue to grow. Shout out to Wholesome!, Yelp Sacramento, Sacramento Downtown Grid, Barista Magazine & Perfect Daily Grind, as well as our other awesome sponsors...we couldn't do it without you guys! Looking forward to our next visit to Sactown - cheers!

Thanks Dean. Yeah, Sacramento did really well. Great to see the excitement and the shops do so well. The rain was crazy, but I was scared we were going to get more.
