~ Caffeine Crawl year 5 in St. Louis meant coffee themed entrees, fizzy mocktails and more! ~ Two days, six routes & a twelve shop lineup featuring five year Caffeine Crawl veterans and some great newcomers filled our weekend with caffeinated local goodness. Kaldi's Coffee Roasting Co. got us started with a full tour of their impressive roasting facility, ending in the tasting room, where we sipped two versions of Firepot Tea Arnold Palmers to the backdrop of an awe-inspiring coffee mural. Kayak's Coffee & Provisions sampled two unique coffees - a Timor and one of the first Javas they've sourced in several years - both tasty! Park Avenue Coffee took it to a whole new level with a four course, coffee focused menu - coffee brined chicken, coffee BBQ pulled pork, salad with coffee vinaigrette & a sweet coffee ice cream was washed down with house cold brew in the most Eco-friendly roasting facility in the Midwest! Stringbean Coffee Co. joined us multiple times throughout the weekend for Tanzania Peaberry brews & Soul Train disco ball roasting vibes. We met the backyard chickens that supply eggs and urban farming vibes at Kitchen House Coffee, and sampled scrumptious dark chocolate alongside our brews at Kakao Chocolate. A newcomer to the Crawl this year, Arthouse Coffee at Living Room welcomed Crawlers to their gorgeous mobile coffee bar for Bitt's Cold Press & Fitz's Root Beer. Bissinger's Handcrafted Chocolatier served up luscious drinking chocolates alongside a selection of house made chocolate bars, and Crawlers took the opportunity to stock up on treats for later. Blueprint Coffee gave us a creamy taste of summer with 'The Neopolitan' - a delightful combination of espresso, Askinose Chocolate ganache, house made vanilla and strawberry syrups and cream. Delicious! Mike from Blueprint joined us at Half & Half to discuss food and coffee programs, and we sipped a Mexican El Pais and nibbled doughnuts on the patio. Wonderful aromas awaited at Northwest Coffee Roasting Company - the team had waffles and coffee waiting, which we gladly munched and sipped while observing a roasting demonstration. After a Caffeine Crawl 2015 award winning Kyoto + Tonic mocktail last year, The Mud House kept the A-game strong with the 'Dank & Stormy' - Kyoto brewed Goshen Ethiopian with Fever Tree Ginger Beer & a slice of lime. Crawlers headed home with a Wholesome Sweetener's swag bag full of goodies from Yelp St. Louis and participating shops, including whole bean coffee from Stringbean Coffee Co. to brew at home. 5 years in and still as good as ever . . . we're thrilled to see the St. Louis coffee (and tea and chocolate!) scene continue to grow, and we can't wait for Caffeine Crawl STL 2017!
