~ The non-coffee libations of the team's recent trip to H-Town. ~ Caffeine Crawl Houston 2016 was a buzz, and the team took full advantage of the city's highly underrated cocktail (and beer!) scene in between cups of coffee. We sipped Buffalo Bayou and Southern Star brews during the latte art throwdown at Ahh, Coffee!, and Sadie even poured a few rounds! In the neighborhood of Crawl shops Blacksmith and Southside Espresso, our other major beer stop was The Hay Merchant - local beers still on tap from their 4th anniversary celebration included Karbach Brewing and 11 Below. Julep is always on the lineup when we're in Houston, and chilling on the patio with several of Alba's team's newest cocktails was a great chancge from the winter temps of KC and FoCo the past few months. The patio at La Grange was almost as good as the cocktails - Tequila and Mezcal based bevs with chips and dips (a reoccurring theme). With the last Crawl route complete, and we took a few hours to chill (also known as catching up with emails and taking forever to decide where to eat). Uber is the name of the game for a night on the town, and we headed downtown for a lineup of great cocktail bars. Starting off at Batanga (a new spot for the team), we sipped house cocktails with a live band in the background and snacked - grilled octopus for Jason and pickled beets for Sadie. 'Mezcalaria' means signature cocktails AND more chips and queso - The Pastry War didn't dissapoint on either account. Chase, our bartender at Moving Sidewalk, served up great drinks and conversation, and we made several great connections with others enjoying the libations. We wrapped up the evening (and the trip) fittingly, with coffee cocktails at The Honeymoon Cafe & Bar -
an entire weekend of caffeination doesn't mean there isn't room for more! ;) Houston was a blast, and we can't wait for next year. Cheers! ~ The LAB Team
