~ A look into the shops and roasters participating in KC's spring Caffeine Crawl. ~ McClain’s Bakery and Cafe - Waldo Last drink I had there: Hot chai made with Hugo Tea What do you suggest for new visitors?: I drink Americanos all the time, but when I'm feeling a bit adventurous I get a cinnamon spice latte, and one of our mammoth cinnamon rolls. There's really not a combo that you can beat. We use a housemade cinnamon syrup blend with six different spices. The cinnamon rolls are made fresh every day, and they're always huge and messy. - Brent'Lee Williams What's coming up that you are excited about?: Right now I am most excited about the launch of lunch in our shop. We started breakfast last September, and it's been a great success. Now we're taking a jab at lunch. We're gonna be having everything from a cranberry apple chicken salad, peanut butter and jelly sandwich with house jellies, and fresh made bread. - Brent'Lee Williams One More Cup - Waldo Last drink I had there: Cali- Cola (Mexican Coke with a shot of Toddy brew) What do you suggest for new visitors?: If you're feeling classic, we suggest just trying a regular latte with a chocolate chip cookie. If you want to be a little more unusual, try a Root Beer Chai, either hot or iced. It pairs perfectly with your face! - Stacy Neff What's coming up that you are excited about?: We just introduced a new seasonal drink - L'Chai-M. It's Hugo Tea Co. chai + a splash of half-and-half + an orange La Croix. We are always excited about each month's specials calendar, too. You never know what a month will bring! - Stacy Neff Crows Coffee - South Plaza / UMKC Last drink I had there: Small latte using Messenger espresso. What do you suggest for new visitors?: I always suggest anything off of our traditional menu. Gibraltar, traditional cappuccino or a macchiato. - Zach Moores What's coming up that you are excited about?: We are making our seasonal drink, The Admiral right now. It's has a brown butter, rice, malt flavor. Think Captain Crunch. We are also going to start serving beer and wine, focusing on local craft beer with a quality selection of wine. - Zach Moores Unbakery and Juicery - East Brookside Last drink I had there: Bottle of Root 2 (beet, carrot, apple, ginger, and tumeric) What do you suggest for new visitors?: A bottle of the Citrus #2 with grapefruit, aloe, lemon, and mint. - Robin Krause What's coming up that you are excited about?: Summer juice recipes with watermelon excite the crap out of me! - Robin Krause Tea Market - Crestwood in Brookside Last drink I had there: An orange-spice tea steeped in the shop. What do you suggest for new visitors?: We are always sampling a tea of the day for someone to try. While you can order any of our 100 teas prepared any way you like, we love to recommend a tea latte; a strong tea blended with hot frothed almond milk and honey. Or, a chai ice blended frappe is another favorite. - Stacie Robertson What's coming up that you are excited about?: We are excited about our new spring seasonal teas. Here's a link to our Facebook page with pics of the spring teas. We have an afternoon tea event scheduled for Saturday, May 21st, (we do them once a quarter) here is a link to it and other classes. - Stacie Robertson
