~ Jason takes us on a virtual tour of Chicago's Caffeine Crawl stops with a few beers, a cocktail and a whole lot of coffee. ~ 1. I loved the walk from The Wormhole to Gaslight, which they both roast at this location supposedly. Gaslight is gorgeous to say the least and my clean and savory brew of Columbia from Brian was also spot on. 2. Chats over really good espresso are hard to beat for us coffee lovers. Scott at Caffe Streets pulled one of the top two espresso shots I had on the trip and we had a great chat about Caffeine Crawl. It was ReAnimator's Peru (who we order from). 3. The 80s and one of the best lattes I've had in a while at HalfWit's The Wormhole shop. Nothing like sipping and dreaming of Back to the Future. Thanks Andreas. 4. I'm a sucker for a boutique hotel, cityscapes and a good coffee shop all in one. Elaine's Coffee Call nailed it. I regained energy with their PB&J and a cup of La Colombe Haitian coffee. 5. Love Asado Coffee's little shop in Irving Park. I was several brews in for the day, but couldn't pass up trying their Panama Los Lajones, and glad I didn't. 6. I've been to some of the country's best cocktail bars in the last year, but Three Dots and a Dash certainly owes a spot in my top 3. I ordered the Dr. Funkhouser and was also brought the Pinky Gonzalez after a conversation on Tequila. Asiye rocked it with service. Insert hearts! 7. I have to admit, I had an espresso at Ipsento that blew me away. Served with some sparkling and a piece of what looked to be a house made Milk Dud. The two together were dy-na-mite and that was my first stop in the Windy City. 8. I had several local beers in Chicago including Half Acre and Two Brothers, but the food, service and beers at Bottlefork Bar + Kitchen took it to another level. I will be back thanks to bar manager's Kidnapped by Vikings IPA by Solemn Oath and a Maya Belgian IPA by Une Annee. 9. Rockin' the Sidama brew at Bow Truss on Wells St. as a V60 brew on last week's Caffeine Crawl Chicago prep. Took this fruity joe with me on my walk north to Lincoln Park. 10. Those that have been in the industry long enough will appreciate the experience I had at Big Shoulders Coffee. Sat next to the good smelling roaster in action with my cup of Sulawesi. That combo of roast and brew is legit. Also, loved the idea that these shops like Big Shoulders had the L schedule prominent in their shop.
