~ Jason spent his week walking the streets of D.C., and Sadie explored the great outdoors of Wyoming. ~ Made a few stops in KC earlier in the week to start the momentum for Caffeine Crawl KC in November. Had a really good macchiato and matcha at Headrush Roasters while visiting with Eric and his staff for their first Crawl preparation. - Jason Craft coffee in the wilderness is a breeze (literally) when you've got friends with fancy barista gadgets. A JetBoil, an Aeropress and some Ethiopian coffee from Novo made waking up in the mountains even sweeter. - Sadie There’s a need to keep regional beers stocked in a fridge when on a trip. Picked up and polished off two really good ones - Dogfish Head’s Sixty One, an IPA using Syrah grape must, and Evolution Brewing No. 6, a double IPA. - Jason Those that travel with me know I have a soft spot for delicious baked goods with coffee. Bakehouse was certainly legit with their pb&Nutella cookie sandwiches, and the Thunder Beast (a local soda co.) root beer float and affogato with espresso from Ceremony. - Jason I was staying in Chevy Chase most of this trip, and found a gem on a jog at Dolcezza. Besides those tempting scoops of gelato, I was able to get an iced tea from Steven Smith Teamaker and pick up a sea salt chocolate bar from Videri. That’s my kind of jogging. - Jason The crew at The Wydown was so inviting. It’s always awesome to chat with a barista who can multitask on brewing and carrying on a conversation. A well executed coffee from PT’s from my neck of the woods was a perfect last coffee before heading back to KC. - Jason A day in Denver touching base with Caffeine Crawl shops afforded multiple (delightful) cups of coffee, and this cappuccino from Amethyst Coffee, made with care and enthusiasm by Sierra, was just the beginning! - Sadie When I get the chance, I try to get a flight of beers that I can’t get in Missouri. I selected a good range at the District Commons with the following - Narragansett Lager, Fordham & Dominion Beach House Golden Pilsner, Hopwork Orange by Blue Mountain, and Clown Shoes’ Tramp Stamp, a Belgian IPA. Right before hopping on the Metro one last time I went back with a VA brew with Get Bent Mountain IPA from Parkway Brewing. - Jason Another multiple drink stop, and DC beverage highlight was Slipstream. A housemade lemon Italian soda and pourover of Madcap’s Ethiopia Ardi. Cool dual bar set up. - Jason ~ Join the Conversation ~
