~ Cocktails to Radlers, beer and chocolate to wine, coffee to poptarts - we spanned the gamut of beverages and their accompaniments in both states this week. ~ Another ladies night on the books at El Monte, and a taste of their updated drink menu with the Agave Blossom - Cointreau, Cazadores Tequila, blood orange, lemon and agave - and, of course, an Agaucate (the tropical glories of which you can read about here). - Sadie An offsite work venture to Thou Mayest for a latte turned into a good networking session catching up with cocktail and beer friends, plus running into one of the country's best young artist, Peregrine Honig. - Jason Spring just officially started and I am already longing the heat and sun of summer. In my book, nothing says bring out the sun like a cold Radler from Stiegl! Typically a 50/50 split of beer and grapefruit juice (or lemonade). Crisp, tart and clean on the finish! Paired well with a Bavarian pretzel at Bier Station with friends celebrating a birthday this week. - Michael Weekly cuppings are always a highlight of my Saturday shift at Harbinger Coffee, and our featured roaster just happened to be Blueprint Coffee. I entertained fond thoughts of the Caffeine Crawl St. Louis after party they'll be hosting next month while we slurped. - Sadie To me it's often not how "fancy or rare" a wine is, but who I'm drinking it with. On Friday I was reaching for a beer to pair with my pizza when my wife said she felt like a glass of wine. My ears perked up and I poured us glasses of Laudun Chusclan Vignerons La Ferme de Gicon (2012), Rhone. Very affordable, but still tasty and the next day she used it in an Italian dish she made. - Jason Sour beers are good for some but not everyone seems to love them. I, for one, can't get enough and one my go to bottles is the Petrus Aged Red from De Brabandere in Belgium. Tart, with hints of cherries and vanilla notes (because it was aged in used oak barrels). Got it to go from Bier Station in KCMO. - Michael After a day of expensive car repairs, it felt better stopping by Black Dog Coffeehouse for a brew of Messenger's Kenya. - Jason Colorado Craft Beer Week was highlighted by a weekend of local brews and a beer pairing with Nuance Chocolate. Mmmm. - Sadie Quickly becoming a go-to spot for me downtown is Thou Mayest in the Crossroads District (and a stop on the Caffeine Crawl next month). This week I got some much-needed work done while enjoying excellent tunes, a Sumatra pour over and a house made pop tart from Heirloom Bakery (Soon to be open on 63rd & Oak Street in KCMO). - Michael Sometimes a margarita is just what you need, and our fabulous landlords made extra for us when they had friends over this week. Awesome and delicious! - Sadie ~ Join the Conversation ~
