~ A few spots of sunshine amidst a rainy spring week, and plenty of great drinks in between. ~ I've been traveling a ton, and working long hours again. It helps when I can pour dual American whiskeys to help fuel a late night work session. Thursday night it was a Pine Barrens single-malt by Long Island Spirits and a High West Double Rye, and that didn't disappoint. - Jason Sunday brunch is key in our house and an old new favorite spot is Heirloom Bakery & Hearth. Sometimes you forget how great a good bakery can be. We started with a savory cheddar chive biscuit stuffed with bacon, egg & cheddar. Paired it with an iced coffee using Thou Mayest (Roasters from KCMO) - Michael Thursday night got a fruity facelift with Odell's seasonal release - Tree Shaker Imperial Peach Ipa. - Sadie I like my bourbon & whisky (no E) but this was a first! French Blended Malt Scotch Whisky. A 3-year-old fruity and smokey scotch that really drank well before and after dinner! Heavy in the peat! Thanks to our good friends for bringing it back to the U.S. from France. - Michael Snacks and beer? Sign me up. One of my favorite dopplebocks, Black Mesa's Alexander Supertramp, alongside a bowl of corn chips made for the fitting combo with a family movie on Friday night. - Jason Vanilla lattes are a rarity for me, but house made vanilla syrup and a little extra foam made a glorious afternoon pick me up at Harbinger Coffee this weekend. - Sadie Sharing a bottle with friends is a way of life. The wine is better and so is our evening. We love Cline and their Ancient Vines Zinfandel was a perfect pair with some stone-fires pizzas after a rained out Kansas City Royals game. - Michael It's been a soggy spring in FoCo so far, but a break to let the sun through for a few hours ended in a cloudy sunset and New Belgium beer + burritos on the rooftop patio at Illegal Pete's. - Sadie Negroni week means "it's go time" for my favorite drink! This version used Ransoms's Old Tom Gin, Campari plus house made vermouth. Paired with a Neapolitan pizza from Il Lazzerone in KC made both even better! - Michael Beers, a New Holland Mad Hatter and Boulevard Saison-Brett, with a good friend, and an intense extra-innings Royals game with cheers throughout Bier Station was a highlight for the weekend even though the Cubbies captured the win. - Jason ~ Join the Conversation ~
