~ Espresso + Ice Cream? Summer savoriness you can eat with a spoon. ~
What does it mean? Delicious. Or, more technically speaking, "drowned" in Italian. Rich, creamy vanilla gelato (ice cream will do in a pinch) 'drowned' in savory espresso, and compelling enough to transport you to a sunny veranda in a rustic Italian village.
Where do I get it? Fabulous question. The popularity of affogatos is on the rise in specialty coffee shops, and a little sleuthing through your local cafe network should reward you with a new favorite place for an afternoon treat. What if I can't find one!? Take a deep breath and channel Italy - you can make your own at home! Having a home espresso machine will help, but if you don't - not to worry, you have options! "Espresso" home brew options such as a Moka Pot or even an Aeropress will yield tasty results when poured over a scoop of your favorite vanilla gelato or ice cream, and we won't judge if you lean more towards a float with that extra coffee you have on hand.
