~ KC to FoCo, winter cocktails to cappuccinos - warming beverages were not lacking this week. ~ 1. All the climate hopping put me a little under the weather, but several cups of guayusa (which you should try if you haven't) from Happy Lucky's Teahouse back in Fort Collins was a warm, tasty way to keep my energy up. - Sadie 2. A snowy night defeated with a bottle of Valpolicella Classico Superiore Rafaèl 2012 at Bella Napoli, and a variety of cocktails (see theBeverageLife blog post) with oysters at Jax Restaurant. A good night with Michael and our awesome wives. - Jason 3. Kaldi's on Main St. fueled an early morning in KC with a fluffy cappuccino, smiling faces, and not 2, but 3 of those addictive little chocolate covered espresso beans. - Sadie 4. As you know, we're very relationship oriented, and I always get excited to receive a mixed case of wines from our good friends at Riverbench Winery in Santa Maria Valley. Also, a bonus to hold a great product that we helped design the packaging for. Had to go straight to one of the Pinot Noirs this week, and it never disappoints. - Jason 5. There's never a bland moment at Harbinger Coffee, and we were treated to a variety of roasted goodness from the folks at H+S Coffee Roasters just up the road in Laramie, WY. Thanks guys, it was tasty! - Sadie 6. Brookside and Waldo coffee shop hopping with different brews of Messenger Coffee running into teammates and KC friends throughout the week. A Rwanda as a V60 pourover at One More Cup and traditional cap at Crows. - Jason 7. The Foundry at McCoy's speaks my love language (read: nachos), and Savannah and I chilled out after a busy day back in KC with McCoy's Rasberry Wheat and a "Jim Dandy" beer cocktail - Ginger Shandy + IPA. - Sadie 8. I jumped back in the home kitchen to create a seasonal simple syrup with apples, vanilla, lemon and a Rishi Tea Jasmine Pearl to make a whiskey cocktail with High West Double Rye whiskey. Um, hell yes. - Jason 9. A cozy night in over my sister's fabulous cooking included a bottle of SnapDragon Cabernet Suavignon - an oaky, warming accompaniment to a frigid KC evening. - Sadie 10. Getting drinks and working with Sadie at Second Best Coffee over a well made cap using a Counter Culture espresso was inspiring for us before she headed back to Ft. Collins. Back to Skype meetings for us for a month. - Jason Happy Mulled Wine Day! We hope you drink a warm glass and check back in tomorrow - we'll be covering the details of this festive beverage for Word Wednesday. ~ Join the Conversation ~
